Our physicians and staff

Lauren Dungy-Poythress, M.D.

Lauren Dungy-Poythress, M.D.Lauren Dungy-Poythress, M.D., a board-certified maternal-fetal medicine specialist, brings to her patients and their physicians more than 14 years of perinatology experience. A native of southeastern Michigan, Dr. Dungy-Poythress joined the medical staff of Community Health Network in 2005. She is partnering with network leadership to build a Maternal-Fetal Medicine program at Community Hospital North, complementing the advanced OB/Gyn and neonatology services available through Community Health Network.

Dr. Dungy-Poythress completed her undergraduate work at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, and received her medical degree from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. After completing an OB/Gyn residency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Dr. Dungy-Poythress continued her training as a fellow in perinatology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center (UCMC). Following her fellowship training, she remained on faculty as an assistant professor in the UCMC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. During her tenure there, she served as director of its Perinatal Substance Abuse Program and the Medical Complications in Pregnancy Clinic.

Dr. Dungy-Poythress also has held professorships in the departments of obstetrics and gynecology at Michigan State University and Indiana University. Other activities include roles as the honorary chairperson for the Indiana Healthy Babies Consortium, as a spokesperson for the March of Dimes and as a clinical consultant for the Indiana Perinatal Network. She has been published in various medical journals, presented in national forums, made numerous television appearances related to medical issues, and received research and teaching awards. Prior to relocating to Indianapolis and a brief appointment at St. Vincent Hospital, she served as the Director of Perinatology Services at the Borgess Medical Center in Michigan.


Deborah Skannal, M.D.

Deborah Skannal, M.D. Deborah Skannal, M.D., a board-certified maternal-fetal medicine specialist and a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, joined the medical staff of Community Health Network in 2006. She is committed to providing confident, competent, compassionate and consistent care for high-risk pregnant patients.

Dr. Skannal completed her undergraduate work at Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and received her medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. After completing an OB/GYN residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, she remained at Henry Ford Hospital as an Attending Staff in the Department of OB/GYN. Dr. Skannal continued her training as a fellow in perinatology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Following her fellowship training, she returned to Henry Ford Hospital as a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist in the Department of OB/GYN. Dr. Skannal also served as a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. She has been published in various medical journals and a textbook, and has presented in national forums.


Glenn Bingle, M.D.

Glenn Bingle, MDDr. Bingle is the Medical Director of the Community Health Network Center for Genetic Counseling. He received his Ph.D. in medical genetics and M.D. from the Indiana University School of Medicine where he serves as voluntary clinical professor of medicine, medical and molecular genetics. He has been with the network for 30 years. The center has been in operation for seven years.




Renee Jones, Genetic Counselor

Renee Jones, Genetic CounselorRenee joined the team at Maternal-Fetal Medicine in July 2005. Her education and enthusiasm make her a great asset to the practice. Renee has a master’s degree in genetic counseling from Indiana University and is board certified through the American Board of Genetic Counseling. She has a special interest in prenatal genetic counseling.

Many couples have questions about their family histories and risks for their current and future children. Renee takes the time to give every patient information and support for her situation. She feels that each patient is able to make an informed decision about potential genetic tests and she is committed to helping them understand the issues that surround different testing decisions.

She is also trained to evaluate potential fetal effects of maternal exposures such as medications or drugs. Renee will gladly take the time to evaluate your situation and address any questions you might have.


Kerry White, Genetic Counselor

Kerry White, Genetic CounselorKerry joined our team at Maternal-Fetal Medicine in September 2006. She holds a master’s degree in medical and molecular genetics from Indiana University, which she completed in 2002. Before working in the prenatal field, Kerry helped run a research project attempting to delineate the early clinical signs of Huntington's disease, a neurodegenerative disorder. She also contributed to several publications in medical journals such as Neurology and Brain. She is certified in genetic counseling through the American Board of Genetic Counseling.


Karlyn Lynch, R.D., C.D.

Karlyn Lynch, R.D., C.D.Karlyn joined the Maternal-Fetal Medicine team in May 2009. She has worked for Community Health Network since 2004 performing the roles of a clinical and outpatient dietitian. Karlyn currently practices as an outpatient dietitian for Community Health Network. She provides patients with nutrition counseling on various medical conditions along with going into the community for corporate nutrition talks and health fairs.

Karyln graduated from Ball State University in 2002 with a B.S. in Dietetics. She then went on to complete an accredited internship through Ball State University, in which she received credits toward a master's degree. Karlyn is a registered dietitian (R.D.) and certified through the state of Indiana.

Karlyn is excited about joining the team at Maternal-Fetal Medicine and looks forward to being able to assist mothers in their nutritional care during pregnancy.


Brenda Chandler, B.S.N., A.S.N.

Brenda Chandler, B.S.N., A.S.N.Brenda received her A.S.N. degree from Indiana University in 1973 and returned to complete her B.S.N. from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1995. Brenda began her nursing career at Community Hospital East as a staff nurse in 1974. During this time, Brenda began a lifelong interest in family-centered nursing care and was able to further this quest beginning in 1993 at Community Hospital South. While working at Community Hospital South, Brenda became an advocate for nursing education. Brenda is a member of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) and is a certified instructor in fetal monitoring.

Brenda joined Maternal-Fetal Medicine in 2006 and enjoys working with the physicians and staff who share her passion in caring for patients and their families.


Yalonde Martin, R.N.

Yalonde Martin, R.N.Yalonde received her B.S. in Computer Science from Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1987. She returned to school in 1999 to study nursing at Marian College in Indianapolis, Indiana and graduated with her degree in nursing in May 2002.

Yalonde started her nursing career at Wishard Memorial Hospital as a student nurse and after graduation as a staff nurse in labor and delivery. She worked for Wishard for three and a half years and gained a wealth of knowledge regarding women’s health and the art of labor and delivery. She also worked for Indiana University Medical Group (IUMG) for one and a half years as a senior staff nurse at their North Arlington office.

Yalonde has been the nurse for Maternal-Fetal Medicine since August 2005 and says that she feels truly blessed to have been given the opportunity to work with Dr. Dungy-Poythress and all the great staff in the office.

Yalonde is also a member of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN). When you come to the office for your first trimester screen, non-stress test, amniocentesis, or any other tests or procedures, Yalonde will be there to assist you.


Melissa Seabrook, R.N.

Melissa Seabrook, R.N.Melissa graduated from Ivy Tech with an associate degree in nursing in May 2008. She is currently finishing her B.S. in Nursing at IUPUC. Melissa joined the Maternal-Fetal Medicine team in August 2008.

Melissa was a licensed practical nurse (L.P.N.) before receiving her A.S.N., and worked on the Orthopedic and Neurologic Unit at Community Hospital North.

In her free time, Melissa enjoys photography, baking and being active outdoors.


Megan East, R.T.

Megan East, R.T.Megan comes to Maternal-Fetal Medicine from Community Health Network School of Radiologic Technology. She then continued her education with a one-year ultrasound fellowship. Through this training she learned her love for work in the area of OB/GYN.

Megan has been a part of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine team since 2007. She recently obtained her nuchal translucency certification and is preparing to complete her ARDMS certification. Megan feels very blessed to work with such a wonderful group of people.


Kelly Nickleson, R.T.

Kelly Nickleson, R.T.Kelly Nickleson joined the Maternal-Fetal Medicine team in September 2007. She came to us with nine years of experience at Community Health Network. She completed the Radiologic School of Technology program in 2001 and is a registered radiologic technologist. She concluded the ultrasound fellowship with Community Hospitals in the fall of 2007. Kelly currently has her nuchal translucency certification and is preparing for her ARDMS board examinations.


Judy Heustis, B.S., R.D.M.S., Lead Sonographer

Judy Heustis, BS, RDMS, Lead SonographerJudy comes to Maternal-Fetal Medicine with over 25 years experience in ultrasound. She graduated from the IU School of Radiology in 1980 with a B.S. in Radiology Special Procedures. This was where she had her first experience with ultrasound. She worked for Community Hospital for 14 years before venturing out. She has spent the last 14 years running her own ultrasound business, specializing in OB/GYN.

She has continued to help train the ultrasound fellowship students in Community Health Network. She became registered in OB/GYN Ultrasound in 1983. She is an active member in the ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers), the SDMS (Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography) and the ISPS (Indiana Society of Professional Sonographers). Judy is also accredited in nuchal translucency scans. Judy loves her job and looks forward to doing your ultrasound.


Angela Colon, B.S., R.T., R.D.M.S., Sonographer

Angela Colon, BS, RT, RDMS, SonographerAngela came to Maternal-Fetal Medicine in October 2007 with over 10 years experience in high-risk obstetrical ultrasound. Angela earned her associate degree in radiography from Indiana University in 1996 and continued on to receive her bachelor's degree in medical imaging from Indiana University in 1997. Angela began her career in high-risk obstetrical ultrasound in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she worked for two years at Bethesda Hospital Perinatal Center. Following her desire to move back to Indianapolis, she then worked for more than eight years at Indiana University Prenatal Diagnosis Center. While there, she earned her nuchal translucency certification in 2003.

Angela is an active member of the ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography), the SDMS (Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography), and the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists). She is also licensed in CPR.

Taking the next step in her career, Angela said she was excited to learn of the opportunity to work with Dr. Dungy-Poythress and the great staff at Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Angela’s passion has always been with obstetrical ultrasound. She loves providing parents a way to see their unborn child move and grow.


Crystal Yost, B.S., R.T., R.D.M.S.

Crystal Yost, BS, RT, RDMSCrystal earned her associate degree in radiologic technology from Indiana University in 2000 and continued on to receive her bachelor’s degree in medical imaging in 2001. After graduation she started working at Community Hospital East as a staff ultrasound technologist. She was employed there for seven and one half years performing abdominal, vascular and OB/GYN ultrasounds. In September 2008 she decided to become more focused on OB ultrasound and joined the team at Maternal-Fetal Medicine. She also works part-time for Community Women’s Health.

Crystal is certified in abdominal ultrasound and radiography. She is now working on obtaining her nuchal translucency certification.


Anni Hine, Administrative Assistant

Anni Hine, Administrative AssistantAnni joined our team at Maternal-Fetal Medicine in November 2005. She has been in the health care industry since she started her administrative assistant career in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1991. She has worked in many and varied areas of health care, including public relations, law, media relations and academia.

While in Indiana, Anni has worked with the Associate Dean of Research Support in Nephrology at the Indiana University School of Medicine and at Riley Children’s Hospital in gastroenterology. Anni is pleased to be a member of the team at Maternal-Fetal Medicine and to assist with any administrative needs.


Robin Swingle, Front Office Coordinator

Robin Swingle, Front Office CoordinatorRobin joined Maternal-Fetal Medicine prior to its opening in July 2005. She has worked in health care since 1988, starting out at Community Hospital East’s medical records department. In 1990, when the Cancer Pavilion opened up on the Community Hospital North campus, she was promoted to start the medical records department. Her knowledge and experience grew as she continued working as front office coordinator in the areas of oncology and hematology.

Although she is new to the specialty of obstetrics and maternal-fetal medicine, she is excited to be able to learn about high-risk pregnancy. She is very enthusiastic about working with Dr. Dungy-Poythress and all of the great staff. She believes that each and every staff member contributes to Maternal-Fetal Medicine’s mission of competent, confident, compassionate and consistent care.

One of Robin’s greatest pleasures is being able to help others. She takes great pride in providing superb patient care and being available to comfort, console or rejoice with each patient in their individual circumstance. Robin is available and happy to assist you with any of your scheduling needs.


Martina McMillon, Front Office Specialist

Martina McMillon, Front Office SpecialistMartina comes to Maternal-Fetal Medicine with diverse experience in the health care industry and customer service. She moved to Indianapolis over two years ago and received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. She is a phlebotomy technician, registered by American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) since 1997.

Martina joined our team in September 2007. She is delighted to assist you with fantastic customer service, patient care and any questions regarding scheduling.


Angela Granger

Angela GrangerAngela Granger joined the Maternal-Fetal Medicine team in October 2007. She graduated, with honors, from MedTech College with a coding and billing certificate. Prior to that, Angela spent fourteen years as an autoworker for Ford Motor Company; she has always had a passion for the medical profession, and she takes tremendous pride in helping and supporting others.

Angela plans to continue her education in medical coding and billing to gain knowledge in the ever-changing medical profession so that she can provide patients with excellent billing information.
